I was perusing some blogs and forums yesterday and I came across this telling excerpt from John Daido Loori’s book, Finding the Still Point. Oddly enough, I also just read in an unrelated article that he passed away exactly a month ago today.
“Most of us spend our time preoccupied. We are constantly carrying on an internal dialogue. While we are involved in talking to ourselves, we miss the moment-to-moment awareness of our life….. The moment is where our life takes place. If we miss the moment, we miss our life.“
Reading this encouraged me to do a cost-benefit analysis on allowing the autopiloted mind to rule my life. Survey says? Not worth it, I’d rather show up. Hello, present moment… how are you doing today? : )
DIY: A simple, nature-ful Thanksgiving card. This is an easy one to do with kids, too.
Materials:
-Pressed, Dried Leaves
-Recycled Card Stock
-Wax Paper
-Non-Toxic Deco Page (I used matte Mod Podge)
-Sponge Brush
1. Press newly fallen fall leaves in a heavy book until flat & dry.
2. Place wax paper beneath and in between folded card stock.
3. Place leaves as desired and paint with deco page. Wipe off excess.
4. Allow about an hour to dry.

I agree, and I try to make a concious effort not to do that. Sweet Thanksgiving card here too. By the way I have given you a blogging award today on my blog. Glad I’ve found you and would like to get to know you better.
